What remains after an empire?

After Rome explores the beauty left behind by time: fragments of art, angels, architecture and mythology, reimagined as a piece of wearable art.

The original artwork was composed in-house, drawing inspiration from ancient Rome and classical imagery. It was then transformed into a negative and developed directly onto the garment using a light-reactive process.

Each tee is individually treated with a light-sensitive solution before the artwork is carefully positioned by hand. The front and back are exposed separately under UV light for approximately 20 minutes, allowing the imagery to develop directly onto the fabric.

The garment is then washed to reveal its deep blue composition and individually tea-toned to age the base, creating the weathered grey, blue and faded transitions that define After Rome.

The irregularities are intentional.

Variations in exposure, toning and colour mean no two pieces develop exactly the same way, leaving each garment with its own character.
